The original National Apple Day - established by Common Ground way back in 1990. The concept, to celebrate traditional orchards, their crops and varieties, as a national festival day is now well-established. The plethora of Apple Days across the country, scattered geographically across the country and scattered in calendar terms across the late September to late October time period, is all due to this original initiative. Following on from our session in March at Barton House Orchard, Cirencester here is a chance to get out into the orchard after the leaves have gone. As well as looking at pruning out dead or diseased fruit wood we will learn the care of orchard trees at this time of year. Dress appropriately for the outdoors (shoes off indoors).
