Training Day at Barton House Orchard, Cirencester
Thursday, 14th, March @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm£2.00
Cotswold Tree Warden Group are taking bookings for a training day on Thursday 14th March 2019 at Barton House, by kind permission of hosts Frank and Marilyn Gardner.
Following on from their session last March at Barton House Orchard, Cirencester here is a chance to get out into the orchard once more. As well as looking at pruning out dead or diseased fruit wood, they hope to get further involved with nature. Options include underplanting to encourage bees, hoverflies etc, a bee hotel, bird boxes and greasebanding to protect trees.
Clive Hester will be leading the day and there will be an opportunity for questions and discussion as well as further information on orchard care. Dress appropriately for the outdoors and any weather (shoes off indoors). If you wish to bring any of your own tools that is useful.
More info and bookings contact: Ann Jones, Cotswold Tree Warden Group, firstname.lastname@example.org
The day will run from 10.00 a.m. to approx 3.30 p.m. Please bring a packed lunch. Ann will provide cake at lunchtime and our hosts, Frank and Marilyn Tea/Coffee.
A donation of £2 per person on the day would be appreciated to aid the funds for the running of CTWG.
Directions – The venue can be approached either from the Market Place via Gosditch Street or from the Abbey Way junction – traffic lights by the rugby club. As there is a one-way traffic system, from either direction, enter Spitalgate Lane and then turn into Trafalgar Road. This bears left, then right until it reaches a T junction with Gooseacre Lane, turn left into Gooseacre Lane, then immediately left again onto Gloucester Street. Barton Lane is the first turning on the right. Proceed right down Barton Lane to the point at which its route goes slightly to the left over a speed hump. At this point the road is quite narrow and there are double gates ahead. Go through the gates and the orchard is just a few yards away to the left. Please park as directed.
