Orchard Biodiversity Day, Glastonbury

Sunday, July 23rd, 2017 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm

Come to the Somerset Rural Life Museum on Sunday 23rd July to meet local wildlife experts in our orchard and learn about the unique environment that orchards offer all sorts of animals.  GOT’s own Jonathan Briggs will be there to talk about mistletoe and mistletoe insects.

Join us for wildlife talks, learn all about mistletoe, plus great ideas for encouraging wildlife into your own garden and lots of family activities too!

11am Roger Dickey (Somerset Ornithological Society)

12pm Jonathan Briggs (Mistletoe Talk)

2pm Jonathan Briggs (Mistletoe Walk in the orchard – inc. looking for insects)

3pm Chris Sperring MBE (Hawk & Owl Trust and general wildlife presenter)

Talks are informal and aimed at a family audience. There will be an opportunity for questions after.

Talks will take place in the orchard. We will have a gazebo for the speaker to stand under and straw bales for the audience to sit on. The weather forecast is good (at the moment).

Also in attendance: Somerset Wildlife Trust   –   Somerset Reptile and Amphibian Group will be joining us in the morning and are hoping to bring some slow worms along!     –     Birdbox making 1pm-5pm     –     Family activities in the Learning Space throughout the day    –    Mini-Beast Hunt sheets available
